Chuck Coleman was a regular performer at Montavino Wine Market. He passed away recently after a valiant fight with cancer. He played a lot of R&B and popular tunes from his vast repertoire of music and was as comfortable playing at Montevino as his guide dog Cordell was to sit and listen while seeking attention from amiable patrons. Chuck not only performed at Montavino, but he also occasionally tuned the piano as required. He usually let Ray know when it was time. Chuck was a graduate of Perkins School of Piano Tuning. He tuned and moved pianos as a business. You may have also seen Chuck perform with his band 'Groovy Shoes' or you may have seen Chuck near his home in Medina during one of his favorite pastimes riding his tandem bicycle with a friend or family member.
Chuck will be noticeably missed at Montavino Wine Market. His driving piano playing style still reverberates from the walls there. Chuck was an inspiration to many who heard him play and conversed with him. He always had time to talk to anyone who stopped to say hello and he always had good things to say about the people involved in his life. One would only need to briefly consider the adversity that Chuck encountered every day of his life to regain perspective on their own lives regarding what was important; to feel fortunate, blessed, and motivated in their own lives to do more for themselves and their community. Wooster was fortunate to have had the opportunity that was afforded to them to gain such encounters with Chuck at Montavino Wine Market. We trust our friend Chuck Coleman will rest in peace and live on in our fond memories of him.
